Plane and Pilot, both grounded

8:03 am in General by Michael Friedman

Hey guys,  I won’t be able to make the meeting next Friday.  I’ll be traveling with family.  I did want to bring anyone who didn’t already know up to date since I won’t be there to do it in person.
I had a bit of a cardiac scare a few weeks ago.  Turned out to be a 99% blocked “Left Anterior Decending” artery.  The cardiac surgeon referred to this as “the widow-maker”, which my wife did not appreciate.  Anyway, Angioplasty and a Stent later, I’m feeling just fine but of course for now my medical is toast.  No PIC for a while.

Then, just to add insult to injury, I loaned my airplane to Dave Duvak last weekend – AND HE BROKE IT!   I got a call from the Admiral from Central Jersey Regional, where he stopped for gas, that the plane would not restart.  Lots of bad grinding sounds.  Well, the forward casting on the starter Bendix gear cracked and broke off.  Fortunately, my mechanic is at Central Jersey and we’re awaiting parts and room in the hanger to work.

Of course, Dave, I’M JUST KIDDING.  I’m fairly sure it would have broken regardless of who was turning the key… too hard.  ;-)   I’m sure Dave will have a good war story for the meeting over this.

See you all later,

Mike
